I am a linguist specialising in Dutch phonology, language variation and language policy. I combine theoretical research with large-scale public linguistics and digital scholarship, and I actively write and speak for a broad audience about language, education and academic culture.
I edit the Journal of Linguistics and the online journal Neerlandistiek, and I serve on editorial boards such as Glossa, Phonology and the Journal of Germanic Linguistics. I am also active in the board of a number of Dutch and international organisations related to individual languages, such as Dutch, Esperanto and Yiddish.
You can find more information on the About me page, and on the pages which are linked to in the menu above. (Please note that I am restructuring my site at this moment. The site is also in English only at this moment.)
